The Smith House is famous for more than serving great family style meals. For folks planning to stay the night in Dahlonega -the Inn offers newly rennovated guest rooms along with our cozy carriage house rooms. If you are planning a longer stay -we offer two bedroom villas located at Chestatee Village on the historic square of Dahlonega. Just a few steps from our front porch you*ll discover the great shopping offered around town. Originally built in 1899 by Mr.Frank Waylon Hall -the house stands atop a rich vein of gold ore. When Henry and Bessie Smith purchased it in 1922 -they turned it into an inn for travelers charging 1.50 USD a day for a room and meals. And so the tradition of The Smith House was born. Now owned by the Welch family -who has operated the dining room since 1946 -and continues into its third generation -The Smith House holds true to is heritage with many of the original recipes and ambience still intact.
