The Old Rum Store on Kensington Street is now home to The Private Kitchen, a bespoke pop-up space designed to showcase visiting international chefs to Sydney’s private dining and events market.
The first collaboration is with Stanley Wong, a celebrated chef who has worked in a number of applauded restaurants worldwide including Michelin-starred Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Jean-Georges and Spice Market in New York and the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong. Chef Wong currently resides in Hong Kong where he has his own kitchen studio, Culinart, which operates as a restaurant for private bookings only, catering for intimate and exclusive dining experiences.
The Private Kitchen is a natural fit for Chef Wong’s first culinary endeavour in Australia, providing a platform for groups, businesses and brands in Sydney to have an internationally acclaimed chef cater their events in this unique dining environment.
Located on the third floor of The Old Rum Store, a distinguished old building recently brought back to life in Chippendale’s buzzy Kensington Street, The Private Kitchen offers an indoor space and a large wrap-around balcony. The modern design complements the raw, industrial elements remaining from the original building structure, providing a versatile environment to host anything from networking breakfasts and canapé functions through to corporate entertaining and brand launches, for up to 120 people. Chef Wong has created a range of menus for seated and standing events, with matched beverage packages available.
