recreational sailing and cruising clubs. Formed in 1885, the Squadron has a long
history of supporting and encouraging sailing as a sport that continues on today.
Sailors at all levels come to RQYS to enjoy sailing on Moreton Bay, from beginners in
Optimists or Sabots, juniors in a variety of dinghies, to our elite sailors competing
with distinction in class championships at International and Olympic events. The
Squadron itself hosts regular Club Championship races for our members along with
State, National and International regattas.

RQYS’s excellence doesn’t stop at the shore though. An active social calendar and the
wonderful clubhouse facilities make the Squadron an easy place to relax, even if you
are not keen on getting on the water. Delicious meals accompanied by a selection of
fine wines and beer may be enjoyed in the modern clubhouse, while a dedicated
hospitality team can look after all the arrangements for your next special occasion.

RQYS is a spectacular setting for functions; weddings, birthdays, conferences and
corporate events are all regularly hosted with great success. The Royal Queensland Yacht
Squadron specializes in providing a unique experience for everyone.
