The ghost of Elizabeth Bigge (the wife of Francis Bigge, who originally built the Courthouse Restaurant) is said to wander the Courthouse Restaurant. Elizabeth died in England more than 150 years ago, but her ghost is believed to have returned to the place where she was the happiest. Many guests and staff members claim to have seen Elizabeth’s ghost, who they describe as a small lady wearing an old-fashioned dress. Elizabeth’s ghost is believed to be peaceful, keeping a watchful eye over the premises.

The award-winning Courthouse Restaurant is a beautiful heritage-listed timber and sandstone building located on the absolute waterfront of Moreton Bay. We specialise in old-world ambiance, five-star table service, live piano music and elegant cuisine. Our three woodfires lend cosy ambience to our beautiful property in the winter months, while the breathtakingly beautiful waterfront backdrop makes our al fresco dining and award-winning garden weddings perfect during the summer months.

We have many beautiful areas in our restaurant designed to suit a range of requirements for your special occasion. Our menus are carefully selected and prepared to guarantee a la carte quality, no matter how small or large your function. Special dietary requirements can be easily accommodated with prior notice. We can cater up to 250 guests for cocktail functions in our garden, patio and courtyard areas. For exclusive use of the main dining room a minimum of 50 guests are required from Sunday to Thursday. For exclusive use of the main dining room a minimum of 70 guests are required on Friday & Saturday evenings. The Courthouse Restaurant is fully licensed. No BYO is possible for any booking. We practice responsible service of alcohol and reserve the right to refuse service to intoxicated patrons. All bar tabs must be settled at the conclusion of your event.
