CISA National Conference 2016 will take place in Darwin in partnership with the Northern Territory Government through StudyNT, supported by Charles Darwin University.
Council of International Students Australia
The Council of International Students Australia (CISA) is the leading international student body which speaks for over 600,000 international students studying in Australia. We are an independent international-student run organisation that envisions to be recognised as an holistic voice for international students in Australia by the local, national and international community. Part of our organisation's mission (among others) is to advocate for the interests of international students, provide a means of engaging with international students and promote cross-cultural understanding.
About the Conference
The 6th CISA National Conference will be held in Darwin, 5-8 July 2016, in partnership with StudyNT and the Northern Territory Government. It will welcome a number of important ‘firsts’ in Australia – the first Australian Government Minister for International Education and the first National International Education Strategy. We look forward to exploring what this means for international students in Australia.
This year’s conference theme is “Breaking down barriers, facing the future together as one”. It seeks to engage international students and our partners, sponsors, education providers, governments and businesses ‘as one’ to ensure international education in Australia lives up to its ideal – to provide a quality education experience while building people to people connections amongst students, institutions and communities around the world. By having the conference in Darwin, Northern Territory, CISA hopes to break its own barriers in engaging international students beyond Australia’s eastern states. We represent international students from all over Australia and look forward to building our links with students and partners in Australia’s tropical north.
For student delegates
The annual CISA conference brings together international student representatives from across Australia to share their voices and experience of studying in Australia. It aims to help them find their voice, to challenge and shape their future, and through this to be effective advocates for a quality international student experience in Australia.
For industry delegates
The conference also welcomes education, government and business representatives to engage with students and work with us to continue to improve international education and the student experience in Australia. We also celebrate students, student associations, education institutions and governments’ success and contribution to international education.
The 2016 CISA Conference will explore important issues for international students and international education in Australia. Be part of that discussion. We look forward to welcoming you to join us ‘Breaking down barriers and facing the future together as one’. See you in Darwin!
